Allen Terrell was the golf coach at Coastal Carolina University in the early 2000s when he recruited Dustin Johnson. The long-hitting Johnson played for CCU from 2004-07. After operating Terrell Golf Performance since 1997, Terrell and Johnson combined entities into the new Dustin Johnson Golf School. In 2013, Terrell left coaching college to operate the golf schools on a full time basis. As well, he continues to serve as a coach to Johnson on the PGA Tour.

In nearly two decades of player development, Terrell—who works with golfers at all levels, from youngsters to adults, amateurs and professionals—has coached more than a dozen players on the PGA and European Tours to more than 15 victories. He also has coached more than 20 NCAA All-Americans, 50 players on the Developmental Tours, 20 Conference Players of the Year, and more than 80 All-Conference recipients. In all, he has trained over 300 college golfers. He has coached over 50 juniors to college scholarships and worked with thousands of amateurs. Before his 13 years as Director of Golf at CCU, Terrell was the assistant to Hall of Fame Coaches Rod Myers and Dan Brooks at Duke University. Prior to Duke, he served as Assistant Coach at Methodist University.

A seven time Coach of the Year recipient, Terrell is considered a world leader in player development. Currently, he is a consultant for many different countries Golf Federations. With the school’s main location being at TPC of Myrtle Beach, Terrell travels and coaches at their other schools in New England and Shanghai, China. As well, having a worldwide client base, he travels to coach his students at their home facilities.

Among Terrell’s professional credits, he is the only coach on the East Coast to be certified Level 3 by Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) as a golf instructor, junior coach, and golf mechanic. He is one of few in the world to achieve TrackMan Master status. Terrell is a US Kids Certified Instructor and a 2014 & 15 Top 50 Ranked Instructor. He is an AimPoint Certified Instructor. Terrell is a PGA Class “A” member.

Terrell serves as a board member of The Dustin Johnson Foundation. As well, he volunteers as tournament chairman for the Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship. Terrell graduated from Methodist University with a degree in Business Administration. He resides in Murrells Inlet with his wife Jenny and their daughter Parker.
